The Schaap Family

Yesterday we went to Joel & Beth's after church and were able to introduce Josiah to the Schaap family. He did great being passed around to so many different people. We also enjoyed spending time with the family.

The Schipma's

The Schipma Family came out on Saturday to meet Josiah for the first time. It was good to see the kids because we have not seen them in sooo long. They also brought a wonderful meal for us to eat which we really appreciated.

Our little GLO worm

Josiah has had some jaundice since he was born so he had to wear the Bili-blanket for about 48 hours. Tomorrow he has to go for another blood test, but hopefully we will be done with all of the blood work after that. He cooperated so well with wearing the blanket and all of the blood tests. Thankfully his dad is able to go with him for the blood tests, because I can't stand it :(

Happy 4th of July

Josiah has received lots of 4th of July outfits. Thankfully he has needed a couple of outfit changes today so he has been able to try them all on.

Meeting the neighbors

Tom & Asheley came over last tonight to meet Josiah for the first time. He really enjoyed meeting them. They brought over two cute little outfits for him and a book.

Great Grandpa's Birthday

Yesterday we celebreated great grandpa's birthday at our house with cake and pizza. Everyone was able to come except for Jeff & Lisa. Josiah was able to meet his cousin, Austin for the first time which he enjoyed.

JOSIAH SCOTT

We rejoice in the birth of our son, Josiah Scott, who was born via c-section on Friday, June 27th at 10:53 pm. We tried to be induced all day long on Friday because the doctor thought that he was big. The labor throughout the day was manageable but then about 7:30 pm he started to react negatively to the Pitocin (his heartbeat went down a little). The doctor and nurse came in and stopped the Pitocin and said that if he did not get better we would have a c-section. This made me very upset because I was very nervous for him and for me, but he stabilized for about an hour, but once they introduced the Pitocin again his heartbeat went down again. So, we went in for the c-section after some prayers and tears.

The doctor brought him out and said that he had red hair (I think it is strawberry blonde if anything). She said it was a boy and man was he a squeaker. I was able to see him for a second and then Tim went with him to be cleaned up a little. I was able to hold him for a second before he went for his bath. During his bath both sets of grandparents were there to witness it and Grandpa Krooswyk took some awesome video of his bath and his measurements. He officially came in to the world at 7 pounds 13 ounces and 21 inches long.

I went to the recovery room and was met with Tim and Josiah a short time later. I was able to hold him for a short time and then the grandparents were able to come in and hold him and meet him and enjoy him with us. We finally got back to a room about 1:45 am and then the grandparents left a short time later. We enjoyed many visitors over the weekend and enjoyed getting to know Josiah better. He is a very happy baby. He definitely enjoys being held, though :) We were finally able to come home about 7 pm on Monday.

We have been spending a lot of time driving to the doctor this week. He has a little bit of jaundice so we have to go for labs, but hopefully today will be his last day of that. I am recovering well and am a little sore, but that is also manageable. We appreciate your continued prayers for his jaundice and that we will be godly parents for Josiah.
